You Will See The Government Waste Money
Okay, let’s take a break. Hungry? Make yourself a snack: two eggs, any style . Once you’ve made these eggs, throw them away, right into the garbage. Then make some more. These eggs are actually for you. Enjoy!
It was heartbreaking, right? Throwing away those perfectly fine eggs? Well, that’s what happens in the military. And I’m not talking about war profiteering, I’m talking about regular, day-in-day-out procedures. I used eggs in my example because eggs must be tossed if they’re sitting around too long after being cooked. The military throws away a lot of food every day. When it comes to feeding the troops, it’s better to throw away food rather than eat something that’s not fresh enough.
Now that I think about it, the real reason KP is so tough is not because they’re always scrubbing pots and pans in the steaming kitchen. The real punishment is that you will end up seeing a lot of food getting thrown out, and it will be hard to witness all the wastefulness. Perfectly good food that nobody has eaten must be thrown away to prevent food poisoning. Can you throw away a whole chocolate cake that no one has touched? How about a tub of ice cream? Can you do it again and again? You will if you sign up for the military!
This was one of the toughest parts of being in the Army for me. It was hard to throw things away when, on the other side of the base, the family of a junior enlisted soldier was living in poverty and could have used what we threw out.
Free Health And Dental Care
A program called Tricare Prime provides free health and dental care to all active-duty members. It is usually provided through an assigned primary care provider, typically located at the base. Veterans who have over two years of active service or a service-related disability qualify for lifetime Veteran Administration healthcare benefits. Members with a service-related disability can also qualify for over $3,000 worth of benefits each month from the VA.

If You Really Cant Imagine The Idea Of Complete Structure
If you cant imagine being told what to do, where to go, what kind of tattoos you can have, and how to dress every day, dont join.
Additionally, the rank structure in the military is a one-way road. No exceptions.
Your leadership should never belittle you.
However, there will be times when you are expected to take verbal and/or physical punishment.
On top of that, you are not allowed to give your side of the story.
Racism In The Military
The military has policies to overcome racism in its ranks. Despite its authoritarian structure it has not succeeded.
During the current wars, Arabs have been labeled towel-heads or sand-niggers, while there were reports of cross burnings and KKK gatherings on military grounds. During the Persian Gulf War, for example, half of the troops deployed were black while white soldiers were more likely to remain in the U.S. or be stationed elsewhere.
The few opportunities that exist in the military benefit primarily educated, white soldiers. While one-third of the enlistees are people of color, only 11 percent of the officers are. Non-white enlistees tend to get low skill, combat-related jobs. Disproportionate numbers of African-Americans and Latinos face courts martial and receive bad discharges. One out of three black GIs will get a bad discharge.

Why Not To Join Indian Army Woes Of Working In The Indian Army
Lets see the other side of the coin. I have mentioned enough advantages to attract you to the Indian army, but here are some of the disadvantages that may force you to think other way round about joining Indian army.
Restrictions that will haunt you:-
The army is all about discipline and restriction, it literally takes away the spirit of living life on your own terms. You will be told to do everything with discipline, this is not a bad thing but according to various studies, strict discipline system can ruin the creative vision of a person.
You must have heard the term boss is always right, and who will know this thing better than army men. You have to follow exactly what the senior orders you to follow and that too with no questions asked.
So basically, if you do not adapt to these conditions then all the restrictions will indeed haunt you.
Less than 15 years and you are on your own:-
If you somehow left army before 15 years then you will be kept from getting the pension, and this is quite bad. There can be circumstances where you may have to leave your job well before 15 years, then you are just on your own. And 15 years is a long time anyway.
Limited options of promotions:-
If you join the army as soldier GD, then chances of reaching to the high posts are limited, as the highest post you can attain is SM . This can be really demoralizing for those who have already joined.
Long distance relationship:-
Jack of everything master of none:-
College Is In Your Future

Your parents or grandparents may have been in the military, and you want to continue this custom or make them proud. In addition, you will enjoy a sense of pride from being able to further your familys military legacy.
When you are driven to join the military because of a family tradition, you will also reap a benefit. Your relatives can give you relevant advice and share experience, both of which strengthen and support you in your military journey.

But Wait Isnt The Military Dangerous
One major reason many people dont consider the military is the perception of a high mortality rate. This is primarily caused by the media. The reality is many military specialties are no more dangerous than their civilian counterparts. Your branch of service and your career field will go along way toward determining the risk you will be exposed to.
Military members may be eligible for VA service-connected disability benefits if they are injured or become ill during their military service. Receiving a VA disability rating makes the veteran eligible for lifetime disability compensation benefits.
In the unlikely event of a service members death, the military or the VA provides a lifetime of benefits for your survivors. The surviving family is given an immediate $100,000 death gratuity benefit, a $400,000 lump sum life insurance benefit , social security and indemnity monthly payments for years, and the transferability of many VA benefits. The military members time served is not taken for granted.
