    • Engaging targets as part of a team.
    • Completing convoy operations.
    • Identifying and disabling improvised explosive devices.
    • Training on advanced weapons, such as machine guns.

How your training location is determined:

    • Enlisted members: Your initial training will be followed with more specialized training at the same installation. This will determine your basic training location. For example, infantry and armor specialties complete basic and advanced training at Fort Benning. Military police and combat engineers complete both trainings at Fort Leonard Wood.

The First Few Weeks After Reception

From Week One to Week Three. The first thing you will notice about your new drill sergeant is that he or she appears to be a different species from the ones hanging around the Reception Battalion. He/she will appear to be much larger, much meaner, and very much louder. Army Drill Sergeants absolutely love push-ups. “Drop and Give me Twenty” is a favorite phrase . On this first day, pretty much everyone will get “dropped.” You will be dropped individually, in pairs, and as an entire platoon. Consider it time to work out and relieve some stress.

Week one is best characterized by a term known as TOTAL CONTROL. Total control is where the soldiers only do what they are told to do by their Drill Sergeants. The first few weeks of Basic Training is definitely NOT the time to find a better way of doing things. Soldiers arrive at the Basic Training Unit from the Reception Battalion and are immediately immersed in an environment where every move they make is scrutinized by the Drill Sergeant.

During the first week, you will start Physical Training and typically first thing in the morning. The typical day throughout Basic Training runs from 0430 , with lights out at 2100 .

During the first week or so, nobody will be able to do anything right. However, by the end of the first week, you will be able to do what you are told, when you are told, and exactly how you are told to do it. The word, “why?” will be surgically removed from your vocabulary before that first week is finished.

    • Self-discipline.
    • Hand-to-hand combat and weapons training.
    • Basic rifle marksmanship.
    • Physical fitness.

In addition to marksmanship and physical fitness training, youll be expected to navigate obstacle courses and rappel from a 50-foot structure, known as the Warrior Tower. White Phase will also be your first introduction to Warrior Tasks and Battle Drills, such as first aid skills, navigational skills, weaponry use and much, much more.

What To Wear To Basic Training Graduation

Army Basic Training: How Much Do You Get Paid in 2020?

At this ceremony, your soldier will likely be in their dress blue uniform the Army equivalent to a suit and tie. As a guest, you dont need to wear a formal outfit, but youll want to look nice to show appreciation for your soldiers accomplishment. Business casual or your Sunday best clothes are more than appropriate.

Remember, graduations are usually held outdoors in some of the hotter months of the year. Take all these considerations into account when deciding your layering, your footwear and, yes, also your hydration.

Bring your pride in your soldiers achievement, a camera to capture the moments, binoculars, sunscreen and a little cash for any commemorative items you may want. Definitely leave the alcohol, tobacco, weapons, silly string or other offensive items outside the gate. Its all about respecting how the process forged a fighter from your son, daughter, brother, sister whatever they are to you. At the same time, you can enjoy the pomp and circumstance of the ceremony, such as the national anthem, remarks from leadership, etc. and telling your soldier WELL DONE afterward.

Sport Is An Increasingly Important Part Of The Bundeswehrs Basic Training

As of May 2019, the training concept for the Armys basic training includes more sporting elements and takes into account other factors such as motivation and nutrition. Accordingly, the military personnel are even better prepared for demanding service in the Army. The young Navy personnel, for example, learn the first practical naval basics such as various sailors knots, as well as caulking leaks with wood, a saw and a hammer.

Those who fail one part of basic training will be retrained by the instructors and allowed to repeat the exam no one is left behind.

In the solemn pledge at the end of basic training, the servicemen and women swear to loyally serve the Federal Republic of Germany and bravely defend the rights and freedom of the German people.

    Discharge From Basic Training

    • If it is found that a recruit is unable to train due to a chronic medical condition, he or she may obtain a medical discharge by the recommendation of an Army medical doctor.
    • A discharge due to any condition Existing Prior To Service may occur when a recruit is found to have a prior medical condition existing before enlistment. A recruit may receive a rare honorable discharge for an EPTS condition if they have been in Basic Training for more than 180 days.

Background & Outline Of The Army Recruit Training Course

The 1st Recruit Training Battalion is part of the Army Recruit Training Centre , which is located at Kapooka, just off the Olympic Highway, approximately 10 kms south-west of Wagga Wagga, NSW. 1 RTB is responsible for the basic training and administration of the Australian Armys recruits prior to them commencing Initial Employment Training as they move forward with their career within the Australian Defence Force.

The 80 day course is physically challenging and mentally demanding. The course is designed to allow the vast majority of recruits that commence training to progress through an ever increasing level of physical and mental challenges, and to march-out on the scheduled date. Due to training setbacks, injury or personal circumstances some recruits take longer to complete the course. Where possible, these recruits are provided with extra training and assistance they require. A small number of recruits who commence training find that service in the Army is not for them, and will decide not to continue training. The program is constantly evolving and subject to change to reflect legislation and Army requirements consequently, there is no guarantee that a soldier will graduate and march-out 80 days after the commencement of the course, although most will.
