If you’re looking for basic, essential information on the third round of stimulus checks, this fact sheet issued by the IRS may well be of use to you:
It’s also worth noting that during the first and second rounds of stimulus checks, the IRS also put together an FAQs page – the body is expected to do likewise for this third batch of payments.
Cautious Optimism Over Us Economy
There seems some grounds for optimism relating to the US economy. The growth in cases is slowing, vaccines are being rolled out nation-wide and households now have an income buffer for another five months, time for the pandemic to abate.
There are plenty who still need help. Last week another 712,000 filed initial claims for unemployment, and more than 20 million continued collecting benefits in late February. Those numbers may not come down fast until the virus recedes enough that the most damaged parts of the economy, particularly the travel and hospitality industries, can fully reopen.
The American Rescue Plan Invests In Our Children
Sen. Ed Markey spoke about the $7 billion of the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan allocated to distance learning and education: “It will help us prevent the homework gap from becoming a damaging, learning gap – and opportunity gap for our most vulnerable children. Children comprise 20% of our population, but they represent 100% of our future. The American Rescue Plan invests in them so they can realize the constellation of opportunities that is the American dream. That is why this provision is so important”

Aba Calls For Legislation To Stop Debt
The American Bankers Association has urged lawmakers to pass legislation that would stop debt collectors from seizing stimulus checks before the reach recipients.
In a letter Wednesday, the ABA stated that they have joined a coalition of financial and consumer advocacy groups urging Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen to support standalone legislation to ensure that these payments are shielded from assignment and garnishment.
The ABA said that if Congress does not act, banks and other financial service providers will have to comply with court ordered garnishments that will enable debt collectors to seize stimulus checks to pay unpaid debts.
It is simple to code the payments as exempt, and we believe it is imperative that Congress ensure that these next stimulus payments are treated as benefits subject to the federal exemption from garnishment, members of the coalition said in a statement. Otherwise, the families that most need this moneythose struggling with debt and whose entire bank accounts may be frozen by garnishment orderswill not be able to access their funds.
Breakdown Of Stimulus Bill Aid Money For States
Aside from helping individuals and families with measures such as the $1,400 stimulus check, the $3,000-3,600 child tax credit, and the extension of the $300 enhanced unemployment benefit, the American Rescue Plan has also allocated $360bn in aid for state and local governments. Unemployment Benefits Will Be Exempt From Taxes
None of the stimulus checks have been subject to taxes, but in the past the additional unemployment benefits programmes introduced for the pandemic were. The federal government has provided weekly payments of up to $600 for Americans who had lost their jobs but the money received did count as taxable income.
However the new stimulus bill changes that and makes unemployment benefits received in 2020 exempt from taxation for the first time. Claimants who earn less than $150,000 per year will not be taxed on the first $10,200 of unemployment benefits that they received in 2020.
It is thought that around 40 million Americans received some form of unemployment benefits last year. If you are yet to file your 2020 tax returns then you will not need to include unemployment benefits as taxable income.
Those who have already done so can use an amended tax return to correct tax returns that have already been submitted. This will allow recipients to reclaim tax erroneously paid on 2020 unemployment benefits.
Stimulus Funds Arrive At Major Us Banks Today
The Internal Revenue Service has confirmed that the settlement date for the first wave of $1,400 stimulus payments will be done by direct deposit on Wednesday, Nacha, the organization that oversees the ACH Network payment system, announced on its web site.
The banks will receive the funds at 8:30 a.m., a time set by the IRS, and banks and credit unions must make the funds available to account holders 30 minutes later at 9:00 a.m.
“Regardless of when payment files were sent and received, settlement of the funds for the payments will occur at 8:30 a.m. ET on Wednesday, March 17, exactly as instructed by the IRS. This is literally the moment in time when the money will be transferred from the government to banks and credit unions settlement accounts at the Federal Reserve. There is no mystery where the money is from the time the first payment file was transmitted on Friday, March 12 to when all recipients will have access to the money on Wednesdayit is still with the government”.

$1400 Stimulus Checks Are Being Spent Here’s Why You Haven’t Received One
Some Americans have already received their COVID-relief stimulus payments of $1,400 each this weekend, and many others have gotten bank notifications that the checks will begin hitting their accounts in the next few days. Not everyone has received a payment or notification, though, and here’s why.
Those who have direct deposit already on record with the Department of Treasury, either from recent tax returns or previous stimulus payments, are likely getting their payments before others. Although people began getting payments and notices this weekend, some think their banks are holding onto the money and not delivering to their customers.
“Some people will see the money in their accounts as early as this weekend as a pending or provisional payment until it is cleared by their financial institution,” one Treasury official said Friday.
The banking app Current began crediting its customers’ accounts on Friday afternoon, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The banking institute Chime tweeted that it has already delivered $600 million to 250,000 of its customers, and took a jab at large traditional banks for holding the funds until Wednesday, March 17.
Last week, Congress passed a $1.9 trillion relief package that includes stimulus payments, and President Joe Biden made it official with his signature. Individuals can receive $1,400 each, while married couples with four children can receive $5,600.
Security Service Federal Credit Union
With free expedited direct deposit service, all military service members, whether active or retired, will have access to their military Leave and Earnings Statement direct deposits as soon as Security Service Federal Credit Union receives notice from the Defense Finance and Accounting Services , 1-3 days before their set posting date.

To Help Lift Restrictions Fauci Hopes Trump Will Push His Supporters To Get Vaccine
Dr. Anthony Fauci, the top U.S. infectious disease expert, said on Sunday he hopes former President Donald Trump will push his supporters to get the covid-19 vaccine and emphasized that pandemic-related restrictions should not be lifted prematurely.
In a PBS NewsHour/NPR/Marist poll released last week, about half of U.S. men who identified themselves as Republicans said they had no plans to get the vaccine.
Asked whether Trump should speak to his supporters directly, given those poll numbers, Fauci said on the “Fox News Sunday” program: “I think it would make all the difference in the world.” Trump, Fauci said, “is a such a strongly popular person … it would be very helpful for the effort for that to happen.”
Trump told attendees at a conservative conference last month to get vaccinated – saying, “everybody, go get your shot” – the first time he had encouraged people to do so.

How Do I Track My Stimulus Check
The IRS and U.S. Treasury started mailing out the first round of $600 stimulus checks in late December, and they have until January 15 to send the rest. Most people will receive the money in their bank accounts automatically, but you may get a check in the mail if youre not signed up for direct deposit.
The IRS has set up the Get My Payment portal where people can track the status of their stimulus checks. Due to high demand, you may have trouble accessing the webpage. You can also call 800-919-9835 for questions about your payment, though live phone assistance is currently limited.
Can I Withdraw $20000 From Bank
Federal law allows you to withdraw as much cash as you want from your bank accounts. Its your money, after all. Take out more than a certain amount, however, and the bank must report the withdrawal to the Internal Revenue Service, which might come around to inquire about why you need all that cash.

Every American who got a third stimulus check should receive Letter 6475.
Tax season is now upon us, and its time to make sure you received all of your possible stimulus money. Most Americans received their full stimulus check payments in 2021. Which Banks Are Withholding Stimulus Check Payments And Why
Around 160 million Americans are believed to be eligible for the $1,400 direct payments and many have been desperately awaiting further support as the covid-19 pandemic has shaken their financial foundations to the ground. However, it has been suggested that some of the nations biggest banks are in less of a hurry to hand over said money.
“The goal is to get these payments out at fast as possible,” stated one IRS official after Biden put pen to paper last. But there could be a delay depending on which bank you are with as some said they would not be doing any processing over the weekend, delaying the distribution of the stimulus checks by days.

Additional Child Tax Credit
By enhancing the Child Tax Credit, child poverty could be reduced by nearly half in the United States. The enhanced credit will make the whole of the enlarged credit refundable in 2021. But taxpayers, on 2020 income-tax filings, can expect a more limited tax benefit under the current rules.
The current rules were established under the 2017 Tax Cut and Jobs Act which is in effect until 2025. The current Child Tax Credit provides families with a tax credit of $2,000 per child, but only $1,400 of that is refundable.
That refundable portion is known as the Additional Child Tax Credit but filers arent necessarily entitled to the whole of the refundable portion.
Second Stimulus Check Bump Fades In February
The second round of stimulus checks was credited with providing a much-needed boost for the US economy in January but it seems that the benefit had largely faded out by March. The big 8% increase in January was followed by a 3% increase in consumer spending, the third-largest drop of the pandemic so far.
The $1,400 stimulus checks that are being sent out now should do even more to boost the economy but there are some concerns that the highest-earning recipients are more likely to save the money than to spend it.

Biden’s Stimulus Plan Could Transform Us Poverty
‘In some ways, the credit resembles much debated proposals to set up a universal-basic-income program, which would send cash to families every month to help them get by. Such a program never seemed possible in the United States, but lessons from the 2008 financial crisis, the Trump Presidency, and the pandemic have changed what policymakers are willing to try.
It signals a turn in the way that we approach alleviating poverty and supporting the unpaid care work of women that makes the economy move.”
Sheelah Kolhatkar investigates how this new bill could really change the way that poverty in the US is addressed.
Shots in arms and money in pockets. That’s important.
The American Rescue Plan is already doing what it was designed to do: make a difference in people’s everyday lives. And we’re just getting started.

Biden Open To Filibuster Reform
President Joe Biden on Tuesday said he supports changing the Senate’s filibuster rule by bringing back the talking filibuster, requiring a senator who wants to block legislation to hold the floor without taking a break. It’s the first time the President has expressed support for any changes to the Senate’s legislative filibuster rule, which requires 60 senators to vote to end debate on a bill.
The filibuster was intended to ensure bipartisan support for legislation and prevent a tyranny of the minority but has come to represent the opposite. One senator can now hold up legislation or block appointments anonymously at no personal political cost until a filibuster is broken.
