What To Wear To Basic Training Graduation
At this ceremony, your soldier will likely be in their dress blue uniform the Army equivalent to a suit and tie. As a guest, you dont need to wear a formal outfit, but youll want to look nice to show appreciation for your soldiers accomplishment. Business casual or your Sunday best clothes are more than appropriate.
Remember, graduations are usually held outdoors in some of the hotter months of the year. Take all these considerations into account when deciding your layering, your footwear and, yes, also your hydration.
Bring your pride in your soldiers achievement, a camera to capture the moments, binoculars, sunscreen and a little cash for any commemorative items you may want. Definitely leave the alcohol, tobacco, weapons, silly string or other offensive items outside the gate. Its all about respecting how the process forged a fighter from your son, daughter, brother, sister whatever they are to you. At the same time, you can enjoy the pomp and circumstance of the ceremony, such as the national anthem, remarks from leadership, etc. and telling your soldier WELL DONE afterward.

One What Is Military Nursing
Military nursing shares many similarities to civilian nursing, in which the common goal is to treat patients and promote their well-being.
However, military nursing is a career under starkly different circumstances.
Military nurses might work either at home or in foreign countries. The most common settings for military nurses to work include military bases, military hospitals, and clinics.
These nurses may also work in hospitals or global response centers alongside deployed military personnel during natural disasters or times of war. Military nurses can work in potentially dangerous environments, like foreign war zones, and work under extremely stressful conditions.
Military nurses also have to be prepared to deal with the emotional demands of working in war conditions. As a reward for the extreme sacrifice and dedication of military nurses, the career also comes with amazing access to healthcare benefits, education, and the opportunity to rise in rank.
Military Pay: Base Compensation
Base pay in the military depends on whether you are an enlisted soldier or an officer , your rank, and how many years of service you have completed. It is the same in every branch and taxable. As you are salaried, overtime pay is not available.
For example, a level E-1 enlisted recruit, the level at which most people start, could expect to earn base pay of $1,650 per month in 2021. The base pay for the lowest level commissioned officer, 0-1, is almost $3,400. The most important differences between a commissioned officer and an enlisted service member are that college degree and officer training those are why commissioned officers earn more.
Advanced enlistment allows qualified individuals to enter the service at a higher rank with higher pay. For example, achieving certification as a Boy Scout Eagle or getting a Girl Scout Gold Award could allow an applicant to enlist as a private first class in the Army.
All service members can expect an annual cost-of-living raise determined by Congress and the opportunity to earn merit-based raises and promotions. The number of years you have served at a particular rank can also affect your pay, depending on your rank.

Career Outlook In The Military
As military personnel complete their term of service or retire, they are replaced by others who receive promotions to fill those openings. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that, through 2020, the number of military personnel will remain constant, but also says that the need to recruit entry-level personnel will continue, to fill jobs left open by these promotions, discharges and retirements. As long as there’s a need for national defense, the military will continue to have openings.
Navy Federal Credit Union
Navy Federal Credit Union has two pay deposit dates depending on what type of account you use for your pay deposit. This pay period will include the usually-unusual, when-pay-is-deposited-on-a-Monday schedule:
Active Duty Checking customers should see their pay pending on Friday, 25 February 2022, to be posted overnight and available for use on the morning of Saturday, 26 February 2022. This happens because NFCUs pay processing system can only be initiated on a business day. The promised one business day early would be on a Monday, and the NFCU system cant do that. So they initiate the pay deposit overnight on Friday, and it is available for use on Saturday.
If you receive your pay deposit on Saturday, 26 February, be prepared those extra days will get recouped during the March end-of-month pay period, when youll go from 12 March until 31 March between paychecks.
NFCU members with accounts that are not Active Duty Checking accounts should see their pay pending on Monday, 125 February 2022, to be posted overnight and available for use on Tuesday, 1 March 2022.

Pay Allowances And Promotions
Service members are paid twice a month based on pay grade, service requirements and time in service. A paycheck generally consists of base pay plus special pays and allowances, if a service member is eligible.
There are many different types of allowances, including the Basic Allowance for Housing , Basic Allowance for Subsistence , cost-of-living adjustments and so on.
The Military promotes people based on a combination of job knowledge and performance, time served at that level, physical fitness and the needs of the Service. Individuals joining the enlisted ranks are typically promoted three times during the first four-year enlistment. Officers are usually promoted twice during the same period.
Basic Allowance For Subsistence
BAS is a nontaxable allowance intended to offset the cost of the service members meals. The BAS rate is adjusted annually based on the cost of food. All officers receive the same allowance, $266.18 per month in 2021. Most enlisted personnel receive the regular BAS of $386.50. Enlisted personnel in basic training are required to eat in government dining facilities and thus do not receive BAS.

How The Dlpt Works
Per DLIs Foreign Language Center, the DLPTs most current version is the DLPT5.
This web-based test is 3 hours long and utilizes audio and written components to test ones listening and reading abilities.
Test takers wear headphones for the audio portions, listen to snippets of audio recordings such as news or conversations, and answer questions based on their comprehension of what they heard.
The written part requires reading long passages of various content types, then answering questions related to the text.
Some questions are multiple-choice while others require constructed-response test responses .
Certain languages are rated as more difficult than others.
For scoring, the DoD defers to Interagency Language Roundtable guidelines. Proficiency scores are assigned to both the listening and reading portions. Scores can range from 0+ to 3 for lower-range languages or up to 4 on upper-range languages.
To ensure currency, linguists take the DLPT every year.

Contributing Factors For Salary
Regardless of the service branch you choose, your pay in the military depends largely on your job performance. Your supervisors rate your performance at regular intervals. In addition, if you’re an enlisted member of the military, you’ll take tests to prove you can handle the next higher rank. If you’re an officer, each promotion depends on your performance, the needs of the service — each service only has so many officers of each rank — and the recommendation of a group of senior officers, called a promotion board.

Getting Ready To Train
An excellent way to determine your fitness level is to undergo a fitness appraisal.
Talk to your doctor before starting a fitness routine or appraisal, particularly if you have a heart condition, feel chest pain, lose your balance or consciousness, have a bone or joint problem, or take drugs for a blood pressure or heart condition. Tell your doctor about the kinds of activities you want to do and follow his or her advice.

What Did You Do Before Joining The Military
Before joining the military, I was a student at the University of South Carolina Upstate in Spartanburg, SC. I had excellent professors that taught me all throughout my undergraduate career. I graduated USC Upstate December 15, 2015, studied for the NCLEX and passed in January of 2016.
In February of 2016, I moved from SC to Rochester, MN. I had accepted a new grad position in the Medical/Surgical ICU at the Mayo Clinic. It was there at the Mayo Clinic that I began my true nursing career.
The immense knowledge and guidance I received was far beyond what I could have expected as a new graduate. It was during the year of 2016 that I also was presented with an opportunity to join the Air Force. This opportunity came sooner than expected but I was thankful!
After a long application process and with the help of a recruiter, I found out I was accepted into the Air Force Nurse Corp in the beginning of 2017.
After working over a year and a half at Mayo Clinic, I said goodbye to the best hospital foundation I could have had a new graduate.
Beginning in Aug of 2017 I completed my five-week training course at Maxwell AFB in Alabama and from that point on I have been Active Duty in the operational Air Force as a Critical Care Nurse!
Health Professions Scholarship Program
Those interested in joining the Army, Navy, or Air Force can take advantage of a scholarship to attend medical or dental school.
The scholarship includes full tuition and fees, health insurance reimbursement, other school-related expenses, and even a monthly living stipend.
If you want to pursue a career in medicine and join the military, this is a great option to take full advantage of the financial incentives that come with that path.
The program is open to those with an undergraduate degree who are applying for medical or dental school, as well as those currently enrolled in medical or dental school.
