Meeting With A Recruiter
A recruiter is responsible for ensuring an applicant is qualified and that they are aware of the long-term commitment they are about to make.
All questions should be directed toward a recruiter, as they will either have the answer or know the appropriate person who would know it, ranging from qualifications to benefits and pay.
Arrangements to meet with a recruiter can be made using an online locator to find an office nearest you or if the distance is an issue maybe a phone call may be more convenient.
Alternatively, most of the recruiting process can be completed online.
During a typical meeting, a recruiter will guide you through the various career options available, education opportunities, and possibly even cash bonuses.
Think of recruiters as gatekeepers into the Navy.
The more prepared you are to complete the application, the faster the process will go.

Ged Holders Must Score Higher On The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery
Those who do not have a high school diploma will be required to score higher on the ASVAB test, regardless of the branch of service desired.
Some potential new military members may find that the recruiter will upon learning of the GED status of an applicant wish to have the recruit take the ASVAB first. Those who do not score high enough are often encouraged to take a specified amount of college credits before retaking the ASVAB.
The reason for this is that those who have GEDs and college credits are put in the same ASVAB scoring category as someone with a high school diploma. The high school graduates do not get more stringent ASVAB scoring requirements.
‘i Can Understand’: Blind Iraq Vet Dog With Ptsd Adopted By Us Navy Vet
An emotional video showing a U.S. Navy veteran adopting a blind military working dog named Elbee has gone viral on social media.
The video, posted to on Tuesday by the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, has amassed over 687,000 views and thousands of comments from teary-eyed viewers who were happy to see Elbee find his forever home with his “brother in combat,” though many couldn’t understand how a K-9 veteran wound up in a shelter in the first place. See the video above.
Dogs have served alongside U.S. soldiers since the Civil War however, the first official K-9 corps wasn’t created until World War II, the American Kennel Club said. The Department of Defense recruits these dogs from “elite breeders” all over the world, but a select fewroughly 13 percentare born and bred through the U.S. military, the DOD website explained.
In the past, many MWDs were either “left behind to fend for themselves” or euthanized once their service was over, Military.com said. In 2000, however, former President Bill Clinton signed into law HR 5314, or “Robby’s Law,” which allowed suitable MWDS to be adopted upon retirement.
According to Petfinder, since then, 90 percent of MWDs end up with their handlers after retirement. A majority of the rest are adopted out through Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland.
In the video, the Humane Society explains that Elbee served in Iraq, and as a result, suffers from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder .
