Qualifications For A Va Dependent Child

Why Is The Indian Army Planning To Cut Pension And Increase Retirement Age For Officers

According to VA guidelines, your dependent child must either be your biological child, stepchild in your household, or an adopted child. Foster children are not eligible as dependents at this time.

You will need to provide the VA with your childs birth certificate, adoption papers, or proof of marriage to the childs adoptive or biological parent. Giving the VA this documentation establishes them as your dependent.

Whether you have already applied to determine your child as VA dependent or not, you should know that there is an eligibility cut-off. Once your child turns 18 years old, they no longer qualify to be a VA Dependent, unless they meet the following circumstances below.

If You Havent Earned Your Diploma Yet And Want To Join The Military Out Of High School

Any recruiter will urge a potential new recruit to complete high school first before trying to enter the military. That said, military recruiting involves something known as the Delayed Enlistment program where those who are not technically eligible to serve yet due to age or school status may enter into a provisional agreement with the service they wish to join.

Delayed Enlistment may put the enlistee into a program to familiarize them with military life, procedures, what to expect in basic training, etc. It can be a big help to those who want to serve, but are not yet eligible to become full-fledged military recruits.

Russia Scraps Age Limit For New Troops In Ukraine Push

Russia has scrapped its age limit for professional soldiers, paving the way for more civilian experts to be recruited for the Ukraine conflict.

President Vladimir Putin has signed a law enabling people over 40 to enlist for the armed forces. They are expected to be people of normal working age.

Previously the army had age limits of 18-40 years for Russians and 18-30 for foreigners.

Russia is presenting it as a move to recruit more technical specialists.

The new law says specialists are required to operate high-precision weapons and “experience shows that they become such by the age of 40-45”. More medics, engineers and communications experts may also be recruited.

Ukrainian and Western military experts say Russia has suffered heavy losses in the war: about 30,000 killed, according to Ukraine, while the UK government estimates the toll at about 15,000. In comparison, Soviet losses in nine years of war in Afghanistan in the 1980s totalled about 15,000.

Russia gave a total of 1,351 of its troops killed in Ukraine on 25 March, which it has not updated.

President Putin has avoided large-scale conscription for what Russia calls its “special military operation” in Ukraine.

But in March Russia’s defence ministry admitted that some conscripts were involved in the conflict and some had been taken prisoner by Ukrainian forces. The defence ministry stressed that it was not official policy to send conscripts into battle.

Czechs Summon Russian Ambassador Over Embassy’s Real Estate Dealings

US Military Enlistment Age Limits

Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky has summoned Russia’s ambassador to Prague over the Russian Embassy’s usage of real estate in the European Union country.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Russian Ambassador Aleksandr Zmeyevsky on May 31 was summoned to address the ministry’s concerns and called on the embassy to heed bilateral agreements and “the legal order” of the Czech Republic when dealing with its real estate in the Czech Republic.”Diplomatic missions on the territory of a foreign state must respect not only the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, but also the rules and laws of the host country. Russia is not doing any of this and does not respect the rule of law,” Lipavsky said in the statement.Due to bilateral agreements between the Soviet Union and Czechoslovakia signed before the collapse of communism in Eastern Europe in the late 1980s, the Russian Embassy in Prague received a large amount of real estate in Prague, the spa town of Karlovy Vary, and other Czech cities free of charge to be used for diplomatic purposes.Czech authorities have said for some time that some 200 apartments in the country that are owned by the Russian Embassy and intended to be used by Russian diplomats and VIP persons were in fact rented out to private individuals who paid in cash.

Navalny Says Faces New Charge That Carries 15

Jailed Russian opposition politician Aleksei Navalny says he has been informed by investigators that he faces new charges for “creating an extremist group” in connection with his Anti-Corruption Foundation and groups associated with it.

In a series of tweets on May 31 that mocked Russian officials over the litany of cases being brought against him, the Kremlin critic said he was being “formally charged” for the creation of his Anti-Corruption Foundation , which exposed graft among officials, including President Vladimir Putin.”Maybe Putin doesn’t hate me, maybe he secretly adores me. That’s why he wants me to be hidden in an underground bunker, guarded by reliable people, just like himself,” Navalny said in the series of six tweets.”How else can I explain the fact that not even eight days have passed since my 9-year high-security sentence came into force, and today the investigator showed up again and formally charged me with a new case.”The FBK and other groups associated with Navalny, as well as his political movement, were declared “extremist” organizations by Russian authorities in June 2021 and disbanded. Several of Navalny’s associates have already been charged with the same offense.

“It turns out that I created an extremist group in order to incite hatred towards officials and oligarchs. And when they put me in jail, I dared to be disgruntled about it and called for rallies. For that, they’re supposed to add up to 15 more years to my sentence,” he said.

The EU proposed the ban a month ago, but resistance, mainly from Budapest, which imports two-thirds of its oil from Russia through pipelines, delayed the latest round of sanctions.

Slovakia and the Czech Republic, which, like Hungary, are landlocked, also asked for more time due to their dependence on Russian oil. Bulgaria, already cut off from Russian gas by Gazprom, had likewise sought opt-outs.

“It’s a fair compromise…this was the best we could get,” Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas told reporters on May 31 as she arrived for Day 2 of the summit.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban repeated that a full embargo would have been an “atomic bomb” for the Hungarian economy.

“It would have been unbearable for us to operate the Hungarian economy with the more expensive oil…this would have amounted to an atomic bomb but we have managed to avoid that,” Orban said in avideo posted on .

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that, despite the temporary pipeline-oil exemption, the ban would have a wider impact, since Germany and Poland have volunteered to wind down their own pipeline imports by the end of this year.

He urged the EU leaders to show strength as they work toward adopting the new sanctions, saying internal “quarrels” only benefit Moscow.

When Was The Us Draft Disbanded

The last US draft was during the Vietnam War and it was abolished on January 27, 1973 – the last day of the war.

The first conscription to enlist civilians in the military occurred during the Civil War in 1863, leading to public riots. Draft resistance continued through the Vietnam War where it reached a historic peak, according to the History website.

The first draft included all able-bodied men aged 18 to 45 but the age requirement decreased during World War I when former President Woodrow Wilson called on men between the ages of 21 and 30.

When the US entered World War II, the government once again expanded the age requirement for those drafted to 18-37 years old, but some could gain conscientious objector status.

This status was granted only to those who could demonstrate sincerity of belief in religious teachings combined with a profound moral aversion to war,” according to the History website.

Later abolished in 1973, the draft could only be reinstated if The White House declared a national emergency. The draft could only be reinstated if The White House and Congress voted in favor.

Russian Lawmakers Scrap Upper Age Limit For Military Service

Russian lawmakers have adopted a bill scrapping upper age limits for those wishing to enter military service, prompting speculation that the country could be scrambling to bolster its depleted manpower amid its invasion of Ukraine.

Russian law currently allows any citizen aged 18 to 40 to join the Armed Forces by signing a contract.

The bill, which was submitted to Russias lower house of parliament, the State Duma, last week and approved in its final reading Wednesday, would remove the upper age limit for first-time recruits. It now must be signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin to formally become law.

“Highly professional specialists are needed to use high-precision weapons and operate weapons and military equipment,” said one note accompanying the bill.

The change would not apply to serving soldiers wishing to renew their military contract, who still must be under 50 years of age.

The bill was introduced by Andrei Kartapolov, the head of the State Dumas Defense Committee and a member of the ruling United Russia party, and his first deputy Andrei Krasov.

We understand that with some specialties experience comes with age: at 40-50 years old, has the richest depth of experience which should be used for defense purposes, Kartapolov told the Vedomosti business daily.
