Is 25 Too Old To Join The Military
It stings to know you lost a great opportunity because you jumped on it too late. All branches of the U.S. military have age limits that can disqualify you from signing up. If you’re worrying “at what age is it too late to join the military?” don’t give up hope the cutoff for most military branches is somewhere in your 30s.
The maximum age for enlistment ranges from 28 for the Marines to 39 for the Air Force and Space Force.
Eu Leader Promises Harshest Ever Sanctions Against Russia In Response To Barbaric Attack
From CNNs Joseph Ataman in Paris and Amy Cassidy
European Union Commission President Ursula von der Leyen promised to weaken Russia’s economic base and its capacity to modernize following the barbaric attack by Moscow against Ukraine.
We will freeze Russian assets in the European Union and stop the access of Russian banks to European financial markets, Von der Leyen told reporters on Thursday.
We condemn this barbaric attack and the cynical arguments that are being used to justify it.
“Harshest” sanctions: Von der Leyen said she will present massive and strategic sanctions against Russia for approval later today.
These sanctions are designed to take a heavy toll on the Kremlin’s interests and their ability to finance war. And we know that millions of Russians do not want war, she said.
We will not allow President Putin to replace the rule of law, by the rule of force, and ruthlessness, she said, “Ukraine will prevail.”
Speaking alongside Von der Leyen, EU High Representative Josep Borrell said punitive measures from the 27-member bloc against Russia would be the harshest packet of sanctions that has ever been implemented.

Who Is Not Required To Register
Men born from March 29, 1957 to December 31, 1959 were never required to register because the Selective Service program was not in operation at the time they turned 18. The requirement to register was reinstated in 1980 and applies to all men born on or after January 1, 1960 . Although men born before March 29, 1957 were required to register, failure to register makes one ineligible for student aid only if one was born on or after January 1, 1960.
The Minimum Age Permitted To Join The Military
In all cases except for the Navy Reserve, the minimum age permitted is 17 with parental consent in writing. Those 18 and older are permitted to join the military without parental consent. The Navy Reserve minimum age is 18.
Military Maximum Age Requirements:
Did you know there is an upper age limit for all branches of military service?
Military Age Limits:
- Army Age Limit: 35 for active duty, Guard, and Army Reserve
- Navy Age Limit: 34 for active duty, 39 for Navy Reserve
- Air Force Age Limit: 39 for active duty and Guard, 38 for Air Force Reserve
- Coast Guard Age Limit: 27 for active duty, 39 for Coast Guard Reserve
- Space Force Age Limit: Contact an Air Force recruiter for eligibility requirements
Prior service military members may not be subject to the same age limitations as new recruits depending on age, the nature of military service, recruiting demand, and other factors.
Under federal law, the oldest recruit any military branch can enlist is 42 however each service may set their own policy below that age limit.

Is It Ever Too Late To Go Back To College
- Xper 51 mo It’s never too late to earn a degree and get an education. A college education is a smart investment and one that is not bound by age.The time itll take to graduate, 4-5 years, will pass whether youre in school or not, so make the most of it and work toward your goal. React
- exitseven | 799 opinions shared on Education & Career topic.Master1 mo No, it is not. I have had many students in their 40’s and a few even older that were in a degree program. some wanted t start new careers.Your profile says you are 23. I have had plenty of students that were in their 20s. Lots after serving in the military, some just were not ready for college. They are often my best students because they seem more motivated. You will be older someday anyway. Don’t you think it will be better to be older with a college degree? React
How Long Will I Be Away From Home
Sailors rotate between sea and shore duty. You may spend three years assigned to a ships command and then rotate to serve three more years at a shore command. You will not be at sea during your entire Navy career. During your sea tour, you may live off-base nearby, but must be available to travel with the ship for deployments or training.
A typical sea deployment on a Navy ship can last anywhere from six to nine months. Ships typically deploy once every 18-24 months. In preparation for deployment, Sailors should be prepared to go to sea for 10 to 14 days each month for training.

Reasons Not To Join The Military
Everybodys always talking about why you should join the military, so I decided to give you five reasons not to join the military. Here they are in no particular order.
1. You want an education and have at least $100,000 just sitting around for you to use.
Education is very expensive, and $100,000 is actually a very conservative estimate for a four-year degree. If you don’t want to take advantage of the military paying 100% of your tuition while on active duty and giving you upward of $50,000 through the GI Bill to use on active duty or after you get out, then the military is not for you.
2. You absolutely do not want to have a job that gives you any kind of vacation time.
If you are one of those people who never likes being away from the workplace, then the military is not for you. The military gives you 30 days of paid vacation every year starting with your first year. It could take 20 years with some civilian companies to accrue that much time off.
3. You get a scared feeling every time you even think about leaving your hometown.
Some people like where they live and have no desire to travel the world at someone else’s expense. The military has installations all over the world and gives its members opportunities to travel like no other company in the world.
4. You would feel way too guilty receiving free medical care for you and your family.
5. You want to be really old when you finally retire from a company.
Joining The Military At 2: How Old Is Too Old To Enlist
While many recruits enter the military right out of high school, some take their time and consider joining the military at 25 instead.
There are several benefits to waiting a few years after high school before signing your enlistment contract.
However, before you sign your paperwork, there are some considerations to weigh in before making your final decision.
While some high school graduates jump at the chance to leave home and enlist right away, this is not ideal for everyone.
At age 25, you took the time to learn some valuable life lessons that pay off.
For instance, by the time you are 25, life has knocked you around a little, and you had time to learn from mistakes and develop your maturity.
When you face making decisions for a military career, you likely have a different perspective at age 25 than you did at age 17 or 18.
Some decisions you might approach differently are your choice in military branch or even which career best matches up with your lifetime goals.
Also, while you are older, you are not so old that the physical fitness aspect is too much of a challenge.
Some may argue that having more time for your physical strength to mature will give you an advantage.
Furthermore, somewhere around your mid-twenties, there is a shift in mental toughness, primarily as you work to meet life challenges.
What seems impossible to your 17-year-old self is just a regular Tuesday to your 25-year-old self.

Proving That You Didn’t Know You Were Supposed To Register

Leader Of Civil Liberties Organization: Russia’s Attack Could Cause A Refugee Crisis
Oleksandra Matviichuk, chair of the Center for Civil Liberties in Kyiv, told CNN on Thursday she fears the Russian attack on Ukraine will cause a “refugee crisis.”
“I am in Kyiv. And a lot of people stay in Kyiv and will fight for our country and for our city, and for our dignity,” she said. “But people with children, people without parents, people who are scared try to leave city.”
She added that she fears Russia’s attack will also target journalists, civil activists, human rights defenders, and volunteers “who are … resistant to the occupation.”
When asked what could possibly prompt Russian President Vladimir Putin to pull back, Matviichuk responded, “Now, it all depends onto immediate reaction of the West.”
“We, as Ukrainians, will win,” she said. “I don’t know how my personal story will end but I have no doubt Ukraine will stand. But we need time, and West can provide this time, with their immediate reaction.”

Proving Good Moral Character If It’s Too Late To Register
If you’ve passed age 26, it’s too late for you to register for the Selective Service. Your chances of qualifying for U.S. citizenship depend on how many years have passed since you were supposed to register and how many years of good moral character you need to show. If you need to show five years of good moral character, then the easiest thing might be to wait until you are age 31 to apply for citizenship.
Or if you need to show only three years of good moral character , you should wait until you are 29 years of age to submit your N-400 citizenship application.
Reason #: Medical Schools Value Real
Admissions officers know that when a nontraditional student appears in their office, they are not dealing with someone pressured by family or pursuing a naïve ambition, but someone whounderstanding the breadth and depth of the undertakingis still keen to earn a medical degree. Mature students have had time to think about their paths and ultimately to decide that medicine is indeed what they really want. As another expert teacher for The Princeton Review has observed, most older students are actually better students because they are highly motivated and focused. Plus, in the intervening years between college and medical school, many older students will have pursued careers in the military or the corporate world. These students bring valuable life experience to their endeavorsincluding the ability to manage people, take initiative, make decisions under stress, and keep working even when the job gets grueling. An admissions officer doesnt need to ask an older student, Are you sure medicine is for you? Instead, though, the admissions officer will probably ask Why now? Be prepared to answer by emphasizing how your life journey has made this the perfect moment to begin your medical career.

Will Age Affect How You Are Treated In The Military
Age does not entail getting better or worse treatment in the military. Although there may be a few jokes and roasts here and there , there may also be more people looking up to you and some expectations given the perception that you have slightly more life experience. However, you will be held to the same standard as everyone else.
Consider watching this Youtube video of Jocko Willink and Echo Charles sharing their thoughts about entering the military after the age of 30.
Can You Join The Army With Tattoos
The Army tattoo policy for 2021 is fairly loose, among the most liberal tattoo policies in the military along with the Navy. You can NOT have tattoos on your wrists / hands, neck, or face. The only exception to this is a ring tattoo, one per hand. Sexist, racist, extremist, and indecent tattoos are NOT allowed.

Why Do Military Recruiters Lie
This is a lie that recruiters tell you to get you to sign into an open or high demand field. While there are some jobs that provide you with skills you need to have a great civilian career, some jobs do not have an equivalent at all. This is something to consider when you do not plan to spend 20 year in the Military.

Why Joining The Military At 25 Is Tricky
Before pumping the brakes and deciding to wait to join, you must remain strategic with your timing.
There are likely challenges ahead of you.
First, you will be older than many, if not all, of the other recruits.
Prepare yourself for some dad jokes.
When you are 25, you are potentially six to seven years older than those you serve with.
While the six to seven-year age gap may not seem like a lot, consider that many 25-year-old people are not hanging out with others who cannot legally get into a bar.
You might find yourself a bit annoyed.
On the other hand, you might relish being the voice of reason and a mentor for your fellow recruits.
We all need someone to look up to, and when you serve together, you become family.
The chances are that the experience will be somewhere between wtf are they thinking?! and its rewarding to have others look to me for advice and perspective.
Lastly, even though you are still within the prime of your life, you are closer to feeling the physical effects of aging earlier than those with whom you serve.
While this is not an impossible journey, it might make you feel old before you are actually old.
Also, it is vital to remember you are not competing with other recruits in boot camp.
Instead, your goal is to meet the military branchs standards and competing against yourself.
Another reason why joining the military at 25 is tricky is being away from family.
Those who are older often have their own family units.
Some Of Nato’s Eastern Countries Have Trigged Article 4 Here’s What That Means
From CNN’s Brad Lendon
NATO member states Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have triggered NATO Article 4 to launch consultations within the alliance over Russia’s attack on Ukraine.
The Parties will consult together whenever, in the opinion of any of them, the territorial integrity, political independence or security of any of the Parties is threatened, Article 4 of The North Atlantic Treaty says.
According to the NATO website, consultation under Article 4 can lead to collective action among the 30 member states.
The website says Article 4 has been invoked six times previously since the alliance formed in 1949, most recently by Turkey in February 2020 after dozens of Turkish soldiers were killed by an attack by Syrian government forces in opposition-held areas of northern Syria.
Turkey has invoked Article 4 on four other occasions: once in 2015 to inform the alliance of its response to terrorist attacks in the country twice in 2012 after a Turkish warplane was shot down in northern Syria and after Turkish civilians were killed by Syrian shelling and in 2003 when it asked for alliance help to protect its population from any spillover from the war in neighboring Iraq.
On two of those occasions, NATO responded with military aid, sending Patriot missile batteries to protect against Syrian attacks in 2012 and sending aircraft and missile batteries to southeastern Turkey along the border with Iraq in 2003.

Reason #: Youre Less Swayed By Emotion
Studies suggest that emotional intelligence increases with age. The upheavals of the mid-20s probably seem like small change to someone whos weathered a major financial challenge, the adventure of starting a business, or the rearing of a child. Having survived a few of lifes major challenges, youre more prepared for the emotional wallop of the MCAT, the rigors of medical school, and the necessary judgment calls of medical practice. It could be argued that one of the latent objectives of the MCAT is to assess which testers can keep their cool without crumbling during the 7.5-hour testing marathon. Many medical schools are keenly aware of the value of emotional intelligence when accepting nontraditional students, as well. Keeping a clear mind in frantic conditions will, after all, be key to your job as a physician.
Age And Investment Banking: How Old Is Too Old To Break In
UPDATE: Please see the Part 2 follow-up article to this one, on 6 ways to beat the odds and break into the industry as an older candidate. That article expands on whats here and gives you tips and advice for what to do as an older candidate.
Theres no issue more sensitive than age.
But Ive gotten many panicked How old is too old to break in? questions over the years.
Rather than skirting around this issue yet again, lets jump in and see:
- Why the problem is not your age at all
- Why some experiences make you older than others
- Why banks like less experienced and capable recruits
- What to do if you are too old
The question How old is too old to break into finance? is a misguided one: in the US its not even legal to ask for your age when applying for jobs.
Still, most large banks are US-based and have standardized recruiting processes so even if you apply in another region theyre not likely to ask explicitly how old you are.
Which means that most of the time, banks cannot measure your age precisely.
Or Can They?
Instead, they assess your age by looking at how much full-time work experience youve had after graduating from university.
Chances are that 10 years of full-time work experience makes you at least 30 unless you were a child prodigy and graduated university at age 15, but then you wouldnt be doing finance anyway.
This has some interesting implications:
