    Quartermaster & Chemical Equipment Repair

Quartermaster & Chemical Equipment Repair Specialists have one of the worse jobs in the Army for a different reason compared to the two previous military roles.

For starters, Army MOS 91J Specialists serve an important albeit unpopular job role.

You do get to learn a specialty that presents you with more long-term career options compared to Army food service or housekeeping.

However, the demands of the job are not ideal as Army MOS 91J Specialists work in noisy, hot, and otherwise uncomfortable settings.

Of course, the U.S. Army has nothing but great things to say about the military job:

As a Quartermaster and Chemical Equipment Repairer, youll use the latest technology to supervise or diagnose, disassemble, and perform repairs on chemical equipment, quartermaster machinery, forced-air heaters, and special-purpose equipment to ensure that they are ready to support our troops.

    Sounds interesting enough, right?

The job reviews on Indeed.com from military vets that worked MOS 91J have relatively good things to say about the job despite the gruelling work.

    Have Fun With The Ceremony

There are very few moments in anyones military career where they have the power to dictate what they want and have it happen. Troops can have fun with where the reenlistment takes place, invite friends and family, and, for a brief period during the ceremony, youre technically honorably discharged, so the enlistment period timer is set back to zero.

Of course, you cant do anything stupid because the ceremony isnt done yet and the command and retention will hem your ass up if you make a fool of yourself, but briefly discharged troops can laugh at the fact that they can finally put their hands in the pockets of their uniform for a whole ten seconds.

Like the Navy, enlisted jobs in the Coast Guard are referred to as “ratings.” Of all of the services, the Coast Guard offers the fewest guaranteed jobs. One normally enlists in the Coast Guard, undesignated, then strikes for a job after a period of on-the-job training in “basic coast-guardsman-ship” at their first duty station. A few schools are offered during basic training.

As well as offering the fewest guaranteed jobs, the Coast Guard has the fewest overall jobs of any of the services. On the plus side, for the most part, all of the Coast Guard jobs directly relate to a civilian occupation.

    S For Joining The Military

How to pick where you get stationed in the Army

Start by doing some research about your options for joining the military. Learn about the six active-duty branches and their part-time counterparts. Know the main differences between officers and enlisted members. And explore the career fields you can enter for each branch.

Once you know which branch youre considering, contact a recruiter. A recruiter will give you an overview and answer your questions about that service. If youre interested in more than one branch, contact a recruiter for each. If youre interested in joining as an officer, the recruiter will explain any options you may be eligible for.

If you decide to enlist, you will report to a military entrance processing station . Youll spend a day or two completing pre-enlistment steps. These include taking the ASVAB, having a physical exam, meeting with a career counselor, and if youre accepted, taking the oath of enlistment. From there youll receive orders for basic training, usually to start within a few weeks. If you enrolled in a delayed entry program, youll go home and get orders for basic training within a year.

How Do I Choose An Mos

As in civilian life, your work hours in the Army will be much more productive and enjoyable if you choose a job that closely aligns with your interests, skills and values. The Army has 159 jobs, and you’re free to choose any of them, with three caveats:

  • There must be an available spot

Army Officer Candidate School is an intense tactical and leadership training course.

From the beginning, candidates get organized into squads where they start to develop leadership skills in small-unit tactics.

The U.S. Army divides OCS into two phases:

    • Phase 1: The first phase provides basic leadership skills. Candidates endure physical and mental challenges used to evaluate your leadership and determination.
    • Phase 2: The second phase applies tactical and leadership principles to the field. Senior-phase candidates get tested on their ability to lead a team during a demanding 18-day training mission.

Students receive the distinction of Basic Officer Candidate , Intermediate Officer Candidate , or Senior Officer Candidate depending on their status of completion at the school.

The Army enforces strict physical fitness scores for Officer candidates with an expected score between 240-270.
