Getting Ready To Train
An excellent way to determine your fitness level is to undergo a fitness appraisal.
Talk to your doctor before starting a fitness routine or appraisal, particularly if you have a heart condition, feel chest pain, lose your balance or consciousness, have a bone or joint problem, or take drugs for a blood pressure or heart condition. Tell your doctor about the kinds of activities you want to do and follow his or her advice.

Getting Fit With Fitt
As a rule of thumb, ease into your activities, gradually increase each element of FITT, and end each session with a cool-down. For example:
- Begin with a 5- to 10-minute warm-up. Walking, biking or a slow jog will increase blood flow to the muscles and lightly increase your heart rate. Follow up with some light stretching of the muscles you will be using in your workout.
- Improving your overall fitness is most effectively done through a combination of 20 to 60 minutes of aerobic and strength exercises. The two sample fitness sessions below are based on Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology guidelines.
- A 5- to 10-minute cool-down helps return your body to its normal, pre-exercise condition. Suddenly stopping an intense workout can make you dizzy, nauseated or even faint. Walking, biking or a slow jog will gradually bring down your heart rate and relieve muscle soreness.

Can People Be Drafted In The Uk
Many people around the world may currently fear the prospect of conscription if a third world war breaks out, however, most need not worry.
The military draft, while once popular in the first two world wars and other military campaigns namely the Vietnam and Korean wars has been abandoned by many countries.
Others, however, have chosen to hold on to the tradition.
Thankfully for those in the UK, the military draft is no longer in use.
The UK implemented conscription during two distinct periods when World War I and World War II broke out.
UK men aged 18 to 40 were required to enlist during World War I between 1916 and 1920, in what was known as Military Service.
Conscription came around once again in 1939 when the rise of the Third Reich threatened Europe and was in effect from 1939 to 1960 as National Service.

Does Military Conscription Still Exist In The Uk In Times Of War
As it stands, there is no conscription legislation in the UK. Only those who wish to pursue a career in the military join the force.
This mean that it is unlikely you will be called up for service under current legislation.
The UK has only used conscription twice during modern times.
The first conscription period took place during and after the First World War between 1916 and 1920.
At first, single men aged 16 to 40 years old were called up for military service unless they were ministers of a religion or single parents.
Later, the law was changed to include married men and the age limit was raised to 51 years old.
The second conscription period happened during and after the Second World War between 1939 and 1960, with the last conscripted soldiers leaving the service in 1963.
At the start, only single men aged between 20 and 22 were liable to be called up to become militiamen.
However, as the war escalated, it was first changed to all men aged 18 to 41, then to men between the ages of 18 and 51.
Police officers, medical personnel, prison workers, students, government employees and ministers of any religion were exempt.
Those who had certain physical or mental disorders, such as blindness, were also not called up.
Pregnant women were technically not exempt, but, in practice, they werent conscripted.
