Experience For A Specific Civilian Career

What’s Initial Training in the British Army really like?

The majority of jobs in the military will directly transfer to the civilian world.

For example, if you plan on pursuing a job in law enforcement, serve a few years in the military police.

Not to mention, having military experience on your resume typically goes a long way with employers.

A background in the Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marines shows leadership ability and a strong work ethic.

Tip 3 Be Polite And Courteous At All Times

This might sound like an odd suggestion, but the interviewers will notice if youre impolite or rude to them. Respect is a fundamental part of the role as a soldier in the British Army. So, to pass the selection process, you need to show that you can be respectful and courteous no matter the circumstances.

If you think you could do with being more polite to others, try to incorporate politeness into your everyday life. By making politeness a habit, youll be courteous without even realising during the interviews.

Here are some ways to start being more polite during your daily life:

  • Asking others how their days are, or have been, during conversation with them.
  • Wishing others, such as service staff in restaurants and shops, a good day or evening.
  • Holding doors open for others or allowing others to pass you whenever appropriate.

Jag Corps Reserve Component Program

If you’re interested in being a part of the JAG Corps but still want to practice in the private sector consider becoming a member of the JAG Corps Reserve Component Program. Serving in the Army Reserve means you’ll still have a civilian job, but you’ll train each month close to home and complete a two-week training exercise once a year. This way you will be trained and ready if called. As a JAG Corps Attorney you’ll broaden your legal skills and earn a supplemental income providing counsel to Soldiers and their families.

How To Join A Ukrainian Militia

Meet the motley thugs of Right Sector.

THE UKRAINIAN army was so pitiful when fighting broke out in the Donbas in April 2014 that President Petro Poroshenko had to outsource the nations defense to volunteers. By July, approximately fifteen thousand citizens and foreigners had joined volunteer battalions. There are two main types. Territorial units were raised throughout Ukraines twenty-four oblasts, including Donetsk and Luhansk. Theres a Lviv Battalion and a Kremenchug Company. The Dzhokhar Dudayev Battalion is made up of several hundred Chechens who arrived in August to avenge Putins waging of the Second Chechen War. The second type is ostensibly ideological. Sankta Maria is Orthodox Christian. Sich Battalion is ultranationalist. The distinction between the territorial and ideological units quickly became trivial. Members of the Azov Battalion, based in the eastern city of Mariupol, are reputed to be Aryan racists. But most members I met were foreigners who joined because Azovallegedly funded by Rinat Akhmetov, a Donetsk steel tycoonpays five hundred dollars per month. If there is a shared sense of mission among the volunteers, it may be best described as anti-Putinism. Almost every volunteer I have met this winter at the Donetsk front bears a personal grudge against him.

The ASVAB may be given in a computerized version at a Military Entrance Processing Station or in a paper version at various Military Entrance Test sites around the country or at high schools and colleges. It Will Destroy Your Soul

David Wong published an outstanding article on called 9 Types of Jobs that Will Destroy Your Soul that aptly describes the roles people play in the workplace. I must warn you that the language is rough, but every word of it is true. Every soldier has experienced at least seven of these roles at some point during his military career. I will not re-write what the article says, but I will tell you that every soldier can, at any moment, become:

  • The punching bag: A person who bears the brunt of complaints, but can do nothing to help.
  • The walking dead: A person who will face sleep deprivation and irregular hours.
  • The laughingstock: A person whodoes a job that everyone makes fun of.
  • The cog: A person who performs endless tasks with mindless repetition.
  • The rat in a cage: A manager responsible for those he has no authority over.
  • The assistant cromulationist: A highly-specialized job that is impossible to explain.
  • The Bob: A person who makes everyone else’s job harder.
  • The girl: A.K.A. the “lone representative of your gender in the workplace” .

The article is hilarious. If you are a civilian, you will appreciate it, but if you are a soldier, you’ll relate to it because you will live it every day.

Being A Dual Military Couple Is Really Really Hard

A dual military union is, by definition, extremely unstable. For one, as long as the two of you are in the military at the same time, you can â and will â be separated. Married couples do get consideration for dual relocation, but itâs hardly a guarantee. When my husband got a job at another post halfway across the country, I still had to stick around and deploy with my unit before my branch manager would even think about finding a way for me to go with him. There is a painfully large number of people who get married just to stay together, and an awful lot still get split up, deploy on separate rotations, or get stationed at separate posts that are deemed âclose enough.â

Seriously, imagine having to wonder daily if youâll be cohabiting with your spouse a year from now. That was my marriage for three years.

What To Do/know Before Joining The Army:

1. Consider Cutting Your Hair

If you don’t cut your hair, you will need to keep it in a tight bun.

My hair was long, and I wasn’t about to fix my hair up in a bun every day. With the intense training, I would have to fix my hair all of the time, especially because drill sergeants are sticklers about soldier representation.

A soldier also told me that some of the female soldiers he knew got moldy hair. When I started training, I could see how that was possible. The females who didn’t cut their hair always had to have it up in a bun. As soon as they were done with showers, they’d basically have to throw their hair back into a bun. Sometimes there wasn’t much time to take showers, so then the drill sergeants were thoughtful enough to take us training in the rain. After training in the mud, we would all go campingagain, in the rain. Under those conditions, it’d be easy for a bit of mold to cultivate in a knot of hair.

One of my first preparations for BCT was chopping off all of my hair!

I was amazed by how many people were mad at me for shearing off my “crowning glory.”

In the end, it was a very good thing that I cut my hair, though it made me sad to lose whatever cuteness my long hair gave me.

2. Exercise Before You Join

If you begin to work out before entering Boot Camp, it will be much easier.

3. Ask Questions and Gain Answers

4. Break Your Bad Habits

If Your Spouse Leaves The Service And You Dont Get Ready To Get Some Grief

If youâve got a ring on, the first question you get wonât be, âWhat does your husband do?â Rather, itâs âWhat unit is your husband in?â Military women married to civilian men are perhaps even more of a rarity than single female officers.

My husband left the military before I did â and anytime I mentioned it, Iâd get a look of shock followed quickly by a look of either confusion or disgust. I was actually asked: âDoes he like you working with so many other men?â âIs he intimidated by you?â âWho wears the pants in this relationship?â My personal favorite? âIâm surprised heâs OK with that.â

When You Join The Military Your Family Joins With You

I was born into a military family. Later, when my mother was pregnant with my brother, my father decided not to re-enlist. By then, he had saved enough to start his own business. He did so and never looked back. Decisions like this are terrifying to make. Who do you turn your back onâyour family or your country? Of course, it’s not always black and white, but it does make life tough for everyoneâeven for the parents of soldiers.

Although military marriages are no more likely to end in divorce than civilian marriages, they are faced with unique challenges that not every couple is prepared for. For example, a military spouse is not as likely to find a career. A potential employer has to face the possibility that the employee might leave with only a few day’s notice if their spouse is suddenly stationed elsewhere. An article called How Military Marriage Screws Up Your Career sheds light on many of the ways that military spouses can struggle professionally.

An Army wife understands that her soldier can be deployed at any time. During this time, she holds down the fort. I hate to say this, but it’s a lot like being a single mom. It takes a very special woman to be an Army wife.

However, before you begin, you will have a chance to answer some practice questions and ask any questions about taking the test.

Getting Fit With Fitt

As a rule of thumb, ease into your activities, gradually increase each element of FITT, and end each session with a cool-down. For example:

  • Begin with a 5- to 10-minute warm-up. Walking, biking or a slow jog will increase blood flow to the muscles and lightly increase your heart rate. Follow up with some light stretching of the muscles you will be using in your workout.
  • Improving your overall fitness is most effectively done through a combination of 20 to 60 minutes of aerobic and strength exercises. The two sample fitness sessions below are based on Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology guidelines.
  • A 5- to 10-minute cool-down helps return your body to its normal, pre-exercise condition. Suddenly stopping an intense workout can make you dizzy, nauseated or even faint. Walking, biking or a slow jog will gradually bring down your heart rate and relieve muscle soreness.

Moral Standard For Enlisting

How To Join The Army ( The Enlistment Process, Recruiter, ASVAB, MEPS, DEPS )

In order to join the military, candidates must meet a certain criteria. The law classifies felonies as offenses of moral turpitude. However, the army will still consider applications on an individual basis. In other words, there arent any general rules that prevent felons from enlisting . First of all, during the interview, recruiters ask applicants about their criminal history. After that, they conduct a background check. If the applicant is a convicted felon, the army will consider several factors.

In short, the military wants to avoid hiring people that have disciplinary problems, pose a security threat, or otherwise disrupt the activities and morale of the armed forces. This is not to say that felons are automatically excluded. Instead, the recruitment process determines whether a convict learned from their past, became a better person, and therefore meets the militarys moral standards. To further illustrate, here is an example. A felon that is guilty of a violent crime or weapons violation must show that they dont pose a security threat, especially when they apply for a job that requires them to handle firearms and guns. To do so, the felon would highlight that they finished their sentence, attained a new job, and regularly engaged with society without causing any threats or harm.

Joining Space Force As A Civilian Or Federal Employee

The first hurdle for many to overcome is the decision of whether to try to join Space Force as a military member or civilian. Civilian federal jobs, especially where tech industry-type gigs are concerned, have strict qualification and educational requirements.

Those who are interested in civilian jobs with USSF should visit the United States governments official job website, and search for jobs with the keywords United States Space Force or United States Space Forces.

The results you get from your search may depend greatly on the current number of jobs on offer at the moment. In some cases you may get NO search results or results that point elsewhere on the internet.

What about those already employed as a DoD civilian in an agency that was meant to transfer over to Space Force jurisdiction? An FAQ on the Air Force official site states that in typical cases, Civilians in units that are part of the Space Force will become Department of the Air Force employees. All provisions of law and policies affecting civilians will remain the same. There is no change to pay, benefits, or retirement.
