Frequently Asked Questions Proof Of Military Service Online

How to Verify Someone’s Military Service

Here are your answers to some other questions frequently asked about free military background check and military lookup by name services:

Is there an online database of military members I can search?

Unfortunately, there is no specific database that exists on the web as a people search only for members of the military. It is actually a great idea for verification purposes, but as of now no such thing exists.

Im a veteran. How can I prove my military service to a potential employer?

There are many different ways that you can prove your military service to potential employers as well as to receive government benefits. The best way is to provide a DD-214 to the employer.

You may request additional documentation by contacting the National Archives. In certain cases, a military ID may be sufficient enough for an employer. In general though, a DD-214 is the most suitable.

Are there any free military background check services?

No, unfortunately there are no free military background check services. The best online background checks cost a fee and could help recover military records, if any show up in public record searches. However, there is no free service dedicated 100 percent to military checks.

Are military service records public?

Short answer, yes AND no. It all depends on when the service member served. For example, you can access the military records of anyone who served 62 years or more ago. However, you cannot access the military records of anyone prior to that.

Request An Nhs Covid Pass Letter To Be Posted To You

Request a letter only if you:

  • have been fully vaccinated by the NHS in England

  • are planning to travel in the next 4 weeks to a country that requires evidence of COVID-19 vaccination

You can obtain an NHS COVID Pass at age 16 plus but do not need one to access venues or events in England if you are under 18 years of age.

You can request an NHS COVID Pass letter:

If youre overseas, call +44 151 905 0119 to access the NHS COVID Pass service. Youll be charged according to your carriers rates.

We expect the letter to take up to 5 working days to reach you.

The letter will be sent to the address registered with your GP. If you have recently moved house, make sure youve given your new address to your GP practice before requesting a letter.

The COVID-19 post-vaccination letter was rebranded from 5 July. It now displays the title NHS COVID Pass and the logos of all 4 nations instead of just the NHS logo.

If you got a COVID-19 post-vaccination letter before 5 July, this is still valid. You do not need to apply for a new version.

If you intend to use the letter when travelling abroad, other countries will treat the old version of the letter in the same way as they treat the new one.

You should confirm the entry requirements of your intended destination country using the GOV.UK foreign travel advice pages, as requirements for testing and vaccination can vary from country to country.

GPs cannot provide letters showing your COVID-19 status.

  • The PDF is available online for download. Fill out the form with accurate information to the best of your ability.
  • NPRC explains how to return the document: Review the tables on page 3 of SF-180 to identify the correct location of the record you need and send the completed form to the address identified on the table.

Determine Direct Service Connection Vs Secondary Service Connection For Sleep Apnea

In Step #4, youll want to make the call on Direct Service Connection versus Secondary Service Connection.

In our opinion, the only time a Veteran should pursue Direct Service Connection for Sleep Apnea is IF and ONLY IF you did a Sleep Study while on active duty, which confirmed the presence of a Sleep Apnea condition .

Direct Service Connection Requirements

Direct Service Connection means that a particular disease or injury was incurred in service.

This is accomplished by affirmatively showing inception during service.

There are three components to proving Direct Service Connection:

  • A current disability
  • An event, injury, or disease in service, and
  • A link or nexus establishing that the current disability had its onset or inception in service, which may be established by evidence of
  • Chronicity and continuity, or
  • Continuous symptoms or a medical nexus opinion.

All pertinent or relevant medical and lay evidence must be considered, including the service records .

For the legal principles of direct service connection, see 38 CFR 3.303.

Secondary Service Connection Requirements

In our experience, if you did NOT have a Sleep Study while on active duty and you did NOT get a medical diagnosis of Sleep Apnea in the military, you should attempt to service connect your Sleep Apnea VA claim SECONDARY to another service-connected disability.

Secondary Service Connection may be awarded to a claimant for the following under the provisions of 38 CFR 3.310 and 38 CFR 3.310:

How Do I Request Military Awards And Decorations

Proof of Military Service

For the Veteran: in general, the military services will work replacement medal requests for the veteran at no cost. This includes family members with the signed authorization of the veteran.

For the Next-of-Kin: the process for replacement medals requests differs among the service branches and is dependent upon who is requesting the medal, particularly if the request involves an archival record. Click here for details.

For the General Public: if the service member separated from military service before 1959, the public may purchase a copy of the veteran’s Official Military Personnel File to determine the awards due and obtain the medals from a commercial source. If the service member separated after 1959, the public may request such information from the OMPF via the Freedom of Information Act .

Registration For Men 18

Selective Service registration is required by law as the first part of a fair and equitable system that, if authorized by the President and Congress, would rapidly provide personnel to the Department of Defense while at the same time providing for an Alternative Service Program for conscientious objectors. By registering, a young man remains eligible for jobs, state-based student aid in 31 states, Federally-funded job training, and U.S. citizenship for immigrant men.

Who Can Access Records After Filing

Upon recording the “REQUEST FOR EXEMPTION FROM PUBLIC DISCLOSURE OF DISCHARGE PAPERS”, only the veteran, the veteran’s next of kin, a deceased veteran’s properly appointed personal representative or executor, a person holding the veteran’s general power of attorney, or anyone else designated in writing by the veteran to receive the records. The next of kin of deceased veterans have the same rights to full access to the record.

Agent Orange & Herbicides

If you had boots on the ground in Vietnam you are considered to have come into contact with Agent Orange. The VA has an extensive list of exposure sites. Veterans that have illnesses from the Agent Orange presumptive list, who can prove boots on the ground in various locations, should automatically be granted VA disability benefits. Unfortunately, the VA still denies lots of service-connected disabilities that are on the presumptive list. What VA law says and what the VA does are two different things. However, if you were denied a condition from the Agent Orange presumptive list within the last twelve months, you can appeal.

Veteran Health Identification Cards

The VA also issues veteran health identification cards for veterans who are in the VA medical system.

Many veterans believe they need to be receiving service-connected disability benefits in order to be eligible for VA health care benefits. This is not the case. All veterans are potentially eligible, based on different criteria, including when and where they served, whether or not they have a service-connected health condition, if they were discharged for medical reasons, served in a war zone, recently returned from an overseas deployment, or other conditions. Each situation is unique and each veteran should contact the VA to determine their eligibility status.

, veterans with a VA Health Identification Card are eligible to access military installations to use the Base Exchange, Commissary, and certain MWR activities.

Residents In England Who Have Taken Part In Covid

How do I verify my military service? ID.me Support

Residents in England that have taken part, or are taking part, in COVID-19 vaccine clinical trials will have received a letter from their clinical trial site.

The letter ensures that anyone vaccinated as part of a COVID-19 vaccine clinical trial can prove they were in a clinical trial and therefore should be recognised as fully vaccinated.

If you did not receive this letter, contact your clinical trial site.

This commitment was made by the Deputy Chief Medical Officer in an open letter on 11 June 2021.

We are working with the devolved administrations to ensure a consistent UK approach. We are also working to ensure that all those who participated in COVID-19 vaccine trials can access their vaccine records via the NHS App or NHS.UK

Access The Nhs Covid Pass Through The Nhs App

You can access your NHS COVID Pass through the free NHS App on a mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet. Proof of your COVID-19 status will be shown within the NHS App.

You need to be registered with a GP in England to use the NHS App. If youre not registered with a GP, you can still access the NHS COVID Pass via the NHS website or via 119 to request a letter.

We recommend that you register with the app before booking international travel. For access via the NHS App you do not need to contact your GP.

The NHS App is not the same as the NHS COVID-19 app.

It will only refresh in the NHS App itself. This means you may need to download an updated NHS COVID Pass before you next need to use it.
