Re: Navy Federal Secured Card Graduation

Congrats on your graduation! If you don’t mind me asking, when did your billing cycle close? I was wondering how long the system took to upgrade your card. I have the same card and my 6th statement closed on March 24. I messaged them about upgrading the card, but they said they cannot do manual reviews and it’s up to the system to automatically upgrade the card. Perhaps I need to wait another month to get my deposit back, or maybe it’s just a matter of a couple more days.

Edit: I didn’t read your first post fully. I see that it closed around the 6th, so it only took 2 days to upgrade. If you don’t mind, what was your Equifax score and did you open new accounts in the past couple months? There’s not a lot of data points on what the system is looking for.

Hi! I have a question. We started out with a secured card with NFCU. They graduated our card to a Cash Rewards with a $2,000 limit. Do they ever automatically increase your credit line? Or do you have to request an increase? Current Fico is 802 according to their website. We pay the card off immediately and use it again. Thank you.

How To Find The Best Military Bank Or Credit Union For You

The best military bank or credit union for you will depend on your individual situation. Many service members open accounts at more than one financial institution, as they often offer no-fee or low-fee accounts. For example, you might choose a checking account with USAA, but apply for an auto loan at Navy Federal Credit Union and a credit card at PenFed.

To determine the best bank or credit union for you, youll need to look at the terms of each financial product youre considering. Which ones offer the lowest loan rates? Where can you find the best checking account for the fewest fees? While it might be easier to keep all of your accounts at one bank or credit union and stick to a single mobile app to manage everything, you might find better deals on different products with other banks. However, depending on your needs, it may be possible to get everything you need from one particular financial institution.

Non-military options are also possible, which might be an option if you wont benefit from any of the extra military benefits offered. Online, non-military banks also usually offer higher interest rates for savings accounts.

What Are The Benefits Of A Secured Credit Card

If you have no credit or poor credit, a secured credit card enables you to build your credit score. Simply use your card for everyday purchases anywhere credit cards are accepted, and then pay your monthly bill on time. Most financial institutions report the activity on your secured credit card to the major credit bureaus. Its this reporting that allows you to build a strong credit history. Because this reporting is so important for building your credit history, make sure you open a secured credit card with an institution that takes this step.

    Earning Points & Rewards

The opportunity to earn 3 points per $1 spent on restaurant purchases is generous for a no-annual-fee cardespecially since you probably dont need stellar credit to qualify for this particular card. If you and your family regularly spend $250 a month on dining out, youll take home at least $90 a year in rewards just for that.

The 2 points per $1 on gas is less competitive, though still good among cards for just a so-so credit profile. If you usually spend $200 a month on gas, youll still earn $48 worth of rewards annually just from filling up your tank. All other purchases earn 1 point per $1.

You have unlimited earning potential with this card and, as long as your account is open, you dont have to worry about your points expiring if you decide to save them.

    Navy Federal Secured Card Graduation

Hi! We have had a NFCU secured card for 6 months. Our 7th statement just printed and we did not graduate to the regular card. We have a chapter 13 that has been discharged for over a year. However, it will not fall off our reports until December. Has anyone else here been able to have their card graduate with a past bankruptcy on the report? The representative said it will be re-evaluated each time the statement prints. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone here has a similar experience. Thank you!

Can i settle debt with navy federal credit union for 50%?

    Michael

It is true that settling with a credit union is often not the same, nor sometimes as simple, as setting credit card debt with a national bank. I am not sure what you read about Navy Federal Credit Union, but in my experience NFCU is one of the easier credit unions to work out a settlement with.
