      Sailors rotate between sea and shore duty. You may spend three years assigned to a ships command and then rotate to serve three more years at a shore command. You will not be at sea during your entire Navy career. During your sea tour, you may live off-base nearby, but must be available to travel with the ship for deployments or training.

A good rule of thumb for the combat sidestroke is: If your arms or legs are getting tired before your core, youre not using your core enough. Use the muscles of your body evenly and you should have a lot of stamina using this method.

      Using Clothing As A Flotation Device

      Module two consists of a shirt and trouser inflation. Leaving a small air bubble in the shirt, or inflating the trousers tests the swimmer’s ability not only to create a makeshift flotation device out of his or her clothing but to use the inflated clothing to stay afloat.

      There are scenarios where removing clothing isn’t a good idea, for instance, if the swimmer needs to stay afloat in very cold water, or in water where he or she is exposed to intense sun. Removing one’s clothes in the former situation could result in hypothermia, and in the latter situation could result in a sunburn.

      There are several ways the Navy recommends inflating clothes to use as flotation devices, which the swimmer should learn prior to the test. For the purposes of the test, allowing an air bubble to form in the shirt is sufficient.

      Now Youre Going To Begin With Learning The Basics: Pull Breath Kick And Glide

      One would start by performing one freestyle stroke with your right arm. while your left arm is extended out, and while taking a breath, pull your left arm in, like you would in breaststroke. Perform one breaststroke kick to help with recovery and then using the momentum from the kick, glide as far as you can while remaining flat on the surface of the water. You will continue your flutter kick as you continue onward.

      Each element of this stroke should propel your body forward. if you find yourself putting all your effort into a kick or a pull, you are going to exhaust yourself faster than necessary. Remember, there is no room for inefficiency in the Navy SEALs. They designed this stroke to take the most efficient elements of other swimming strokes.
